Handmade Trim

Handmade Trim

Hello everyone, hope you are enjoying your day!

Just wanted to come on here to let you guys know that I created my own trim (Recollections one which is on clearance at Michael's).  Thought you might want to know how easy they are and you can custom create them to any style or color you need for your project.  The only thing you need to know is how to do running stitch.  I will be demonstrating this on my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/heart4art78 so please visit me there.  Below are the picture of some I created and the black one is from Recollections.

The silver one with lilac tulle is created by me.

This is Recollection one.  They are not identical however, fairly similar and cost efficient.

Below I made two of then one in a silver ribbon with pink lace and a silver pearl trim.  You can custom color or even change the medium (ribbon, lace, tulle, satin material, cheesecloth etc.)

Altered Gift Box

Altered Gift Box - Shabby Chic

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a nice week.  I would like to share a recent project I was working on, it is a Shabby Chic gift box.

This is a 4.5" x 4.5" white cardboard box that I purchased at Michael's.  Below is a picture of the completed box, please read further to follow the process.  I did not get a chance to take a picture of the box in it's raw form, however, I will dive in and show the process.  Hope you enjoy and follow my blog.

First, I painted the edges of the box in pale pink, and distressed the edges in white.  Then I mod podged Graphic 45 "A Ladies Diary" paper on the top and toned down the color with white acrylic paint.  After letting everything dry, I textured the top with "Snow-Tex" for added interest.  The sides of the boxes were done in the same process.

I painted the inside of the box in pink and layered the bottom of the box with 7 Gypsies "Trousseau" collection.  Edged with pink yarn and Recollections flat back pearls.  The lid of the box was layered with 7 Gypsies "Trousseau" and the edges were distressed and inked with Tim Holt "Tea Dye" distress ink.

Then, I layered the sides of the box with pink floral lace and layered another gathered pink lace on top from Lavish Laces.  Also, I added flat back white AB pearls to each individual flower on the lace.

For the closure of the box, I created a loop with wire and created a charm with a clasp on the other end.  Hung it from the lid of the box.

I created the focal flower on top of the box.  It was a white satin material and I dyed it pale pink and added eyelash trim and to the center of the flower added a pearl embellishment.

I embellished the top of the box with Recollections bling, butterflies and flower petals.  Also, included are some flat back pearls from Michael's.  The stick pin is from a swap I did on You Tube and some tiny satin roses in pale pink.

Lastly, I covered the bottom of the box with paper from 7 Gypsies "Trousseau".

I hope you enjoyed the process of how I created this beautiful Shabby Chic gift box.  Please leave a comment if you liked this blog.  Visit me on my YouTube channel where I show all my creations: http://www.youtube.com/user/heart4art78/videos.  Please visit my store at: http://www.zibbet.com/Heart4artus.
